Wymondham Abbey
2007 sees the 900th anniversary of the foundation of Wymondham Abbey by William d’Albini. To mark this special year, The Abbey is planning a series of events running from April to October. Wymondham Abbey in South Norfolk, just ten miles south-west of Norwich, is one of Norfolk’s most splendid buildings. Its distinctive twin towers are a landmark for miles around. The church was founded in 1107, to serve a community of Benedictine monks. Over the following centuries, the monastery grew in wealth and importance. In 1448, it became an Abbey in its own right, hence Wymondham Abbey.

Museums
The award-winning Heritage Museum at Wymondham is housed in the first 'model prison' built in 1785. Diss has a tiny museum of local area history. Aviation enthusiasts must visit the City of Norwich Aviation Museum at Horsham St Faith and 'Station 146, Seething Airfield', the wartime home of the USAAF's 448th Bomb Group. At Thorpe Abbott the Control Tower Museum and memorial to the USAF 100 Bomb Group can be visited.

Family Fun
Wroxham Barns has a junior farm, a traditional fair, craft barns and a tearoom. In 30-acres of countryside, Banham Zoo is home to over 1000 animals, birds and reptiles. The Dinosaur Adventure Park (voted Norfolk's Top Family Attraction by the Good Britain Guide 2004), Thrigby Hall Wildlife Gardens and Africa Alive are other family favourites.
